The Devourer Below

Between the vault’s walls lie jumbled hillocks and ravines of decaying meat, and sharp-edged cliffs of jagged, blood-smeared bones. The remains, which come from every animal to have ever died, range from the cracked shells of mollusks and powdery carapaces of insects to the leering, hollow-eyed skulls of billions of humans. But there are other artifacts among the remains. Umôrdhoth is a vastly ancient force who has devoured deceased civilizations and absorbed their essence into the very walls of this accursed place. The artifacts of thousands of long-dead societies are scattered throughout the Vault, preserved in a grotesque display of Umôrdhoth’s insatiable hunger.

The Chamber of Desolation

Deep within the Vault lies the Chamber of Desolation. Here the stench of decay lies so thick it is barely possible to breathe, and the flickering light of an invisible torch flame casts spectral shadows upon the walls. In the center of the chamber rests a grotesque altar, crafted from an amalgamation of bones and sinew and tended by Ghoul Priests. Upon the altar lies an assortment of artifacts from civilizations long lost to the insatiable appetite of Umôrdhoth, arranged with inhuman precision.
