The Star Spawn of Cthulhu are lesser beings that resemble their master in form but not quite in stature. Though they are much smaller and less powerful than Cthulhu, they can still drive a person mad and lay waste to any area they choose.

With Cthulhu, the Star Spawn formed a civilization in the far reaches of space. They traveled through the cosmos and arrived on earth during a time predating humanity. They built new cities on earth, and in doing so, started an apocalyptic war with another species that had claimed our planet for their own: the strange creatures known only as the Elder Things.

This war ended in stalemate until some unknown disaster befell Cthulhu’s capital of R’lyeh, causing it to sink beneath the waves of the ocean. Cthulhu’s Star Spawn now reside, either dead or asleep, in the drowned R’lyeh. When R’lyeh finally rises once more, it’s the Star Spawn who will rise first and herald the return of their master.
